Jeez, what do you have to be such a downer for? The student council meeting is today! Of course I'm excited! And why aren't you paying attention, anyway? Keep this up and you'll flunk out of class.
[ natalia's long over losing the class president race since leia's qualified and too cute to be bitter with. it's not like she's some gross dude, and what could beat two fantastic ladies working together? she's still running for queen of the dance, though. ]
[ sitting quietly in the back of the classroom wondering why people keep asking her to go to this silly dance. it's not as if she's actually going to be there. ]
I'm not going at all. Really, Anise. If I was, I have more respect for myself to go anywhere with someone who keeps throwing paper airplanes at my chest.
[ sitting near the front of the class with his feet on a nearby desk waiting for all the ladies to come ask him to the dance. he's already decided he's going to make them all mud wrestle for the opportunity to be the date of the prestigious luke fon fabre. ]
[ asch is one of the maybe five people in the whole class even trying to pay attention. why does everyone care so much about this dance! it's not like he cares, b-baka! ]
[ guy gave up a while ago. people watching is so much more entertaining than this ancient projector that's probably older than a few dinosaurs. the fact that asch is trying so hard to pretend like he cares only means one thing. ]
[ ok let's get this backstory shit out of the way: how the hell did someone like alvin meet someone like jude? jude is an a+ student, always buried in books, and that means a lot of time spent at the library, away from his parents' clinic. not that he likes it much there, anyway.
so jude is at the library, but just as he's turning a page he peers up to see a little girl with a doll dangling from her hand standing on her tiptoes, trying her hardest to grasp a book she can't reach. so jude, always the do-gooder, leans up above her to help, smiles when he hands her her book.
and then he turns around and there's alvin with a you beat me to it, huh kid? and oh my god he is so doki he is so so doki. jude learns that alvin is not-so-technically elize's guardian of sorts - of sorts as in he scrambled up the money to rent out an apartment with more than one room and took her in because she had nowhere else to go and alvin couldn't just leave the poor little lady. jude later learns that alvin met elize in a shadier part of town, lost in the streets, and when he asked where her parents were she said she had none, those foster parents weren't her parents and then clung onto him like a leech. so he took her home.
i don't want to write any more, this is so fucking tedious this is a high school au idc about missing child reports. alvin and elize live together, alvin is elize's illegal guardian and elize is very, very attached to him. but when they meet something clicks and soon she becomes very, very attached jude, too, and jude finds himself spending more time with the two of them but especially with alvin - he's so charming and handsome and jude is extremely attracted to this man. who never stops draping an arm around his shoulders or his waist, leaning in just a little closer than jude is used to and whispering in his ear, and it's all very
confusing.
it's confusing.
it's confusing, and jude's fidgeting, his heart swelling in his chest as alvin leans carelessly against the wall of the clinic, his eyebrows raised. ]
[ alvin smirks, sliding a hand around his back, but he has absolutely no idea what jude is worked up about. today seemed as normal as any other day, and jude calling alvin to come meet him somewhere when school lets out wasn't unusual either. then again, jude had seemed just a little distracted over the past few days. he has no idea when and how he started to notice these things - the slight change in expression, the clenching and unclenching of fists. it's like no matter what it is, alvin can't not pay attention.
he definitely can't figure this one out, though. ]
[ okay, mathis. you can do this. you two hit it off pretty well and honestly maybe this could work out!! maybe! there.. may be a few set-backs-- alvin's current drop-out status for instance-- but hey. things will work out, all he has to do is just say it and-- oh crap that hand on his back is not necessary right now. it's distracting him and he's losing focus fast, and jude has to hold back from just leaning into alvin's half-embrace completely. not the time!! focus!
just breathe. smile. act natural. and hide those shaking hands behind your back or something. ]
So. There's a dance coming up at school in a couple of days, I'm not sure if I told you about it already or not.
[ okay, so tear's initial plans just fell through. she was pretty stoked to go to the bar with legretta, but apparently legretta's going on a date with van instead, and ogling her brother's date is just ten kinds of awkward. so she's just going to go home. it's not like she wanted to go anyway!!!
it's not too long of a walk home, but she wants to clear her mind and take a break before inevitably going home to study. tear passes the flower shop every day on her way home, but this time something catches her eye – there's a silly looking puppet in the window, and it's so... cute...
surely the people who own the shop won't mind if she stops in for a bit, right? maybe she can pick up some flowers or something to look inconspicuous. ]
[ the place is deserted, and milla is getting ready to close up shop when she hears the familiar jingle of a customer walking in. it must be a last minute thing for the school dance tonight - milla had wanted to go and people watch, but alvin needed someone to watch elize (and she still can't believe he's going, of all people, and with jude at that) and milla had no real reason to deny him. elize is sitting by the windowsill, talking to teepo quietly while milla sweeps up the petals. ]
Did you need something? We're closing up soon.
[ but then milla actually looks up, and. ah. elize is looking at her, too, a curious expression curving her lips. she looks a little lost, like she's not quite sure how she got here, cheeks flushed, and it's... intriguing. milla puts the broom to the side. cleaning can wait. ]
... I apologize. Is there anything I can assist you with? We've been swamped lately, but I've never seen you around before. Are you new?

It's quite all right, really. I'm just, um, looking at a few things. Don't worry, I won't be long.
[ should she ask about the puppet. it's adorable. ]
